Similar to my tasting note from October. Simple but it has a nice vein of tobacco on the finish. Lacks some fruit on the midpalate. A decent value wine to drink now while you wait for the Rauzan to mature.

40th anniversary tasting (L'Esprit du Vin - Axelborg): My notes from this fantastic gigantic tasting are in general extremely short (because of the many wines) but with ratings. We spent a whole day tasting and tasting quality wines.
This wine: High tannin. A little better than 2016.

Decanted for only 15 minutes. This is a simple but pretty expression of Margaux. Overpriced on a Steakhouse wine list at 3x retail. Nevertheless, it was a nice encore to the Rostaing Cote-Rotie that came just before it.

This wine needs a minimum of 3 hours in the decanter before it really warms up. Which I figured would be the case. Tannic structure can be quite harsh on younger Segla wines. But after hour 3 this wine started to show beautifully and elegantly.
Aromas of blackberry, blueberry, cedar wood. Hints of spice on the palate. A very smooth and fresh wine. A long strong finish that will continue to linger.
A great second wine for the money.
