Arguably the worst vintage in the Southern Rhône in the last 10 years, and unfortunately, it shows. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Cayron fan with a bunch of bottles of various vintages in my cellar. The familiar stinky nose - which I enjoy - is there, but the palate is thin, with a touch of effervescence. Someone here said wintergreen which I agree with. Much better with food, but not enjoyable on its own.

Fresh as a daisy. Doesn’t in any way feel aged, just ready to drink. A lot bigger than I expected from a 2014. The Learmounth basil aromas have receded (if they ever were present in this vintage) . Powerful—Got Jane and I pretty hammered in a fun, energetic way. I wished for more earthy notes, but this felt more like youthful exuberant fruit.

A really cool winter green note on this followed by raspberry fruit, pepper, basil, fig cake. One of my favorite classic Gigondas.

Very rich, a bit heavy with limited acidity

What BAJAYNGO wrote. Fittingly, smoked meat and secondary notes on second day.
