Community Tasting Notes (6) Avg Score: 87.6 points

  • -- wine opened approx. one hour before tasting (screwcap) --
    -- tasted non-blind on Days 1 and 2 --

NOSE: surprising hint of petrol, which I normally would expect from a wine this young; very powdery; lychee and papaya.

BODY: striking green-yellow color; medium-light bodied.

TASTE: salty; medium-high to high acidity; dry. No fall-off on Day 2, when it's still salty with high acidity and light to medium-light petrol note. Absurdly good deal at $12 --- I went back to the store and bought all remaining bottles. gut impression score: high 80s. Drink Now and over next few years.

  • Lovely complexity on the expressive nose, apple and elderflower, cinnamon and peach, good depth; the palate is dry but juicy, with subtle herbaceous bitters, lovely freshness and tension; good length. Remarkable quality for a mere Ortswein.

  • Meget lys bleg i farven. Nedfaldsæbler i duft. Let pæremos og hvide blomster. Hyldeblomst. Syreattack på tungen. Syrlige drops. En anelse sødme. Mineralsk grusvej.

  • Open for several days now. We tried this with our halibut with okra/corn/tomato, but somehow it just didn't work. Much better on its own on a hot day. On the nose, salt and citrus, with a hint of pencil shavings and white flowers. On the palate, ok acidity, with more citrus and good salinity. I though the RS worked well with the acid, but a bit short on the finish, which has a touch of bitterness.

  • pale yellow colour, smells of apricot and melon, light body, not much acidity, quite a lot of residual sugar for a wine that is called dry/trocken, in the mouth and aftertaste melon, short finish, the Rüdesheimer Riesling by Georg Breuer is much better
