Ruby red; nose of cedar, red berries at first, cedar fades and tart red cherry remains; red( fresh pie cherries) cherry fruit, a little spice but subtle, not specific; finish is tart somewhat tannic but not too much for the remaining fruit; actually pretty good for it's age

Had next to '86. '91 was inkier with deeper color, more vigor, more youthful, more flesh. Bottle was in great shape and looked poised for a next level of evolution.

Dark purple with brown/red edges. Wonderful aromas of chocolate cherries, leather and earth. Wine was flat and acidic in the mouth, with nothing to back up the aromas. Cork was wet and believed flawed.

Medium dark red color. Vivid aromas of olives, dried sour cherry, tobacco, leather, hot iron ore. On arrival, low-medium tannin and balanced acidity. Dense and round in the mouth. Cherry fruit and meaty flavor, sneaky herbal and vegetal notes coming and going throughout the tasting, from thyme to spearmint to bell pepper to menthol. Huge finish, long and lasting 20 seconds. Great showing, especially for ME's second wine, and one assembled from no barrels from the original vineyard . Bottle #4 of four.

Incredible how this wine holds up. Still that same great, smoky Mount Eden taste. The guys do Cab about as well as they do CHardonnay and that's saying something. Really impressive.
