  • Opened as a beautifully mature wine with fully integrated tannins, nose redolent of cigar box and violets that was beautifully balanced. Only got better with air time and we slurped it up over a perfectly cooked ribeye. My wife was fatigued by a hike but came alive with the wine and food. The bottle didn’t last long between the three of us! Just goes to show, some grand crus shine even in off vintages.

  • Didn't expect much of a 25 year old of a lesser vintage, but this one surprised me in a pleasant way. Evolved nose with hints of leather, vanilla and red, ripe fruits. The wine looks tawny coloured. The legs are medium. Tasted fresher than wath you would expect from the colour and nose, because of the acidity this wine still posesses. There is light sediment in the bottle.

  • It does have a slight barnyard scent on the nose, but not in a bad way, certainly NOT french urinals, as a previous tasting suggested.
Has a very nice dry finish like many right bank wines do. There are a lot of complex flavors here, but it is not a wine for everyone. I found it very enjoyable, but others, not very accustomed to French wines, did not care for it much.

  • Decanted for spectacular amount of sediment. A bit funky at first- aromas of French urinals that need a good clean. I could have almost mistaken this for a Burgundy at first. I've never noticed that before with this wine.
After an hour or so returned to a more classic Right-Bank state and started to really wake up. Pencil shavings, earth, camphor and mint along with the usual dark fruits.
Fruit is fading a little but the tannins are still pretty noticeable. Doubt they will ever resolve fully but the wine is drinking well for the money I got it for ($40).

  • Wine Tasting #1: Exceptionally good, outshining even the '89 Baron Pichon on this occasion. Every wine has its day, and this was it.
