Dry cork that broke apart on opening, but the wine was not flawed. Medium bodied, good acidity, mildly tart with cedar notes. Held up surprisingly well.

Let me start by saying that I love old wine. I like the unique aroma, I love their melancholy flavors, I tolerate the all too often acidic dominance and I really love the uniqueness which is only available in old wine. I taste a lot of wine and these unique attributes are cherished by me.
So after 30 years I open this Berlinger PR 1985 Cabernet and share these notes.
Still fresh aromatics of berry, with a sulphuric odor end kick on the nose. On the palette there is an acidic start (and too jump to the finish it also finishes acidic) while at mid palette the chocolate dominates and lingers for over 1 minute.
Between the start and the finish the wine is all sweet raisins with dried cherry notes. The wine ends with some chocolate which continues for a long time (over 2 minutes thanks to the acidity).
A well produced juice and reassuring that this wine can still hold my attention. I really like it !

Amana WP Ski Trip: BW Bottle: P/double decant 4 hours. Good fill. Dry, rock hard cork. Clear, dark purple. A beautiful wine. No funk or cork. Absolutely no hint of over the top, hard to believe this wine is 30+ yrs old. Nice med cab nose, med body, ideal drinking window, black fruit, resolved dusty tannins. Nice finish. Nothing off.
