Purple and youthful, nose of violets, flowers, perfumed, dried herbs, sweet plum and damson. The palate is super smooth, plummy fruit, mouth coating texture, a bit of warmth from the alcohol. Moreish, easy drinking style but with an alcoholic punch so beware...

Bright and full nose on pop and pour. coffee, spices and chocolate come out of the glass almost instantly. It is quite thick, rich and fruit forward. Enough acidity to hold its balance at this time, but i think a big steak or stew and drinking this sooner than later would be the idea. excellent value and a very solid wine.

Tasted at the Whitewater Valley Wine Society, Hampshire, UK. This was a dense opaque wine, deeply coloured and perfumed. It was rich and full bodied with lots of bramble fruit, dark chocolate, coffee and savoury, meaty notes. This is a wine to enjoy with a hearty, meaty dinner and was a perfect way for our Society to end a most interesting tasting of New Zealand wines.

Bright burgundy. Toasty oak nose with cherry, spices (black pepper, cinnamon, nutmeg), toffee, coffee bean, porty/balsamic. Palate similar introducing plum, dark chocolate. Good value.
