A premier. Golden, color to rim, linebacker legs, clear: disconnect between oxidized golden apple notes and still searing acid. A nice pairing with #Fridaynightscampi and garlic bread. drink now.

Initial big, yeasty, pie-crusty nose dissipated to reveal gunflint minerality and candied citrus peel with just a hint of oxidation to remind what lies in the not to distant future. Fantastic, massive cut and length of rich lemon curd acidity and modest, not lean, white peach. Delicious to drink some on a cool sunny patio before dinner. Recorked. Greatly diminished 2nd day.

there was a time when we'd consider this a victim of premature oxidation. no longer, as 11 year old 1er cru is often past & rarely worth the risk. underlying wine-making only amplified our ultimate disappointment. cue:tiny violins. . .

(Etienne Sauzet Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts) Lovely citrus and lemon zest nose; very tasty tart citrus, lemon palate with good depth and integrated oak; medium-plus finish 92+ pts.

Zero for two. Premoxed. The only good news is there were my last two bottles. Happily, the evening was saved by a ‘08 Boillot Clos de la Mouchere.
