  • Chardonnay and Pinot Tasting: White florals, lemon, straw and grapefruit. Quite taut still on the palate, there is good cut and presence, along with nice texture. At a good point for drinking now, but a few more years wouldn't harm it.

  • As with previous commentators, cork was exceptional, excellent seal.
Think I left my run at this a little late though- suggestions of elegance & hints of former glory, now though a little underwhelming, decent colour, good approach, buttery & malo evident but a little thin, weakening acidity, a slight sweetness evident.

I imagine it's akin to hooking up with a former flame- you anticipate experiences similar to the good ol' days and hope for the best but time has taken it's toll and the actuality is rather bland.

I'm drinking the remainder pronto- challenge is to pit it against something that won't dominate it- pair with a fish pie or similar?

  • "2015" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/11/2014-10/16/2014 (Blue Mountains, NSW): {cork} I didn’t take detailed notes on this except to note it was right in line with my past (non-corked) experiences of this wine, which is to say it’s a great example of warm-climate chardonnay, beautifully supported on acid and with integrating oak; great palate balance and with a long finish. This example didn’t seem terribly complex; but a little more time might have helped; it’s still a very impressive wine with a few years (but possibly not much improvement) left in the tank.

  • {cork, 13.1%} If all corks had served their wines so well as this one, the screwcap would never have been invented. This is glorious. Slightly aged (nowhere near its 11 years), the bouquet wafts cashews and peaches into the air. The palate is spectacularly balanced; aging buttery flashes enrich the warm chardonnay fruit flavours; but there's still a mineral, earthy aspect to the taste too. Beeswax, lanolin, rich cedar oak (but it saw a mere 7 months in oak, with just 30% of it new); this has everything that makes people fall in love with chardonnay, combining the best aspects of old and new world approaches to the grape. Long, mineral, dry finish. So good now, you wouldn't risk aging it longer, unless you know something about the cork that I don't...

  • Light gold. Hints of smokey oak, apples lemon and mineral. Quite rich but still very crisp in the end. A very good example of modern Chard.
