{screwcap, 14%} Surprisingly youthful at ten, although full of spicy oak flavours, figs, cashews. The nose is consistent in advance; the palate is full-bodied and warm with great richness and still-strong prickly acid. Amazingly light - even green - in colour, it's full and rich will a vanilla twist to the medium-long finish which avoids an obvious buttery or oaky character. I think a lot of the freshness is due to the lack of malo the wine sees. On this tasting will last, even evolve - another five years easy.

Some of the oldest chardonnay vines in Australia - planted between 1908 and the early 1970s. Still vert fresh and youthful, yet for me literally yet somehow falls short. Two much acidity, not enough generosity or class. A fascinating contrast to the 2012 Lion's tooth, Pyramid Valley chardonnay, which completely eclipses this.
I'd give it more time, but punches a tad below its weight and reputation.

@davidbalint1: Tyrrell's Vat 47 '07 going strong and will go to 2019. Some flint, matchstick but lighter in the oak which makes it sing. This and the '10 in a 06-10 vertical win out. 92

Nose: medium+ intensity, citrus, cooked apple, quite pure.
Palate: more cream than on the nose. Lots of smoke/struck match on the finish. Long.
