While 1998 will not go down as a great vintage, this didn't convince me of anything worth 1er prices. It was an expensive trial and the wine was flavourless over a background of sharp acidity. More of a challenge to drink than a pleasure.

Friday Afternoon at Domaine (Domaine Wine Storage): Very bright nose of cinnamon, mushroom and cherries. The palate had a good deal of iodine tone to it with sharp acidity - an interesting blend with the floral, earthy and red-fruited core. With some air the acidity on the palate smoothed out a bit and the wine became a bit more harmonious to me. '98s seem to be drinking well now.

taste: medium bodied with medium+ acidity and tones of red fruits, earth tones, spices and some herbs. Nice balance, again lacking some depth on the mid-palate.
overall: This was a nice lavaux st. jacques. The producer and vintage were unlikely to create an amazing wine, but it was enjoyable.

Great result from a so-so vintage. This wine had a depth of leather and earth to go with a tasty berry fruit that wasn't to jammy or tangy - just right. Tannins smoothed out. Great on the nose and on the palate.

Served blind I guess high quality burg from '88 or '91. High toned with lots of vibrant fruit and plenty of structure. A real surprise and an excellent wine by any standard.

Another Friday afternoon at Domaine (Domaine Wine Storage, Chicago IL): nose: nice and balanced aromatic nose of red fruits, earth tones, spices, and some dark red cherries. Decent depth, but lacking for the level.
