  • Red fruit and oak on the nose. Medium bodied, quite tannic and acidic, showing subtle lingonberries with a hint of oak. The finish is dusty and a bit austere. Nice robust and rustic in style. Needs food to shine.

  • Tasted blind in VV.

Slightly translucent and quite dark cherry red color with a hint of developed hue. The nose feels quite ripe and dense with brooding aromas of sweet-toned blackcurrants, some crushed peppercorns, a little bit of leafy vegetal character and a hint of vanilla. The wine is lively and quite muscular on the palate with very ripe yet pretty fresh flavors of juicy blackcurrants, some jammy blackcurrant tones, a little bit of vanilla, a hint of overripe plum and a touch of peppery spice. Overall the wine feels nicely structured with its high acidity and enjoyably firm and grippy tannins. The finish is quite long and moderately grippy with somewhat noticeable alcohol warmth along with flavors of sweet vanillin, blackberry jam, some blackcurrant marmalade, a little bit of peppery spice and a hint of toasty oak.

There's obviously a nice, fresh and structured wine underneath, but unfortunately the surface is what distracts me: the wine feels a bit too high in alcohol with quite too dominant jammy and heavily vanilla-driven overall character. With a bit less ripeness and oak this wine could've been miles better - now it just comes across as another jammy vanilla-fruit bomb with surprisingly nice structure. Nevertheless, the wine might get better from here in a cellar. Priced according to its quality at 11,50€.

  • Very good and strong wine. Nice roots and good balance. Differs from basic european wines, but nothing like new world wines. Nice palette. Huge plus for the price!
