Popped and poured. Medium purple color. Nose of blackberry and blueberry with a bit of sweet spice and toasty oak coming through and a hint of black pepper. Similar flavors on the palate with ripe black fruits, pepper, oak and maybe a hint of black olive on the finish. Medium acid and tannin. Smooth mouthfeel. Tasty, well crafted syrah but a bit overpriced.

Color: even after nearly 10 years, an opaque, inky core-> moderately-dense ruby rim. Great nose of blackberry compote, minerals, creosote, roasted meat and a little smoke. Palate showed some gaminess, tobacco, graphite and mixed black fruits. Excellent structure and acidity; smooth, delicious and long. Interestingly, this is reminiscent to me of Morgan Twain-Peterson's Syrah from the Hudson (T 'n' S) Vineyard -- my favourite of his -- which is only a few miles away. This has a wonderful sense of balance and I can see this holding well for at least another five years. Would buy again. 92-93

Perfect pairing with an applewood smoked, stuffed pork loin. The dark smokey berries; juicy, dark cherry; bacon fat; sweet black licorice; dark, mulchy dirt; and fine grained tannic structure really complimented the smokey flavors and meatiness of the pork. One of the best cool climate US Syrahs on the market. Consistent, vintage to vintage. Elegant, deep, and classy, finishes long.
