Stood the bottle 24hrs, carefully decanted and glad I did, as this produced a lot more sediment than anticipated. It's also showing more age in its still youthful state than I had expected and even showing some tertiary notes on the nose. Pours dark inky with aromas of tobacco, tar and black fruit, and on the palate, dark berries, a little cracked black pepper and smoke. The tannins have subdued and the wine has become less grippy on the front end with a nice finish. It’s become more rounded out, juicy and integrated . This remains in my top 3 Beckmen wines ever and from one of my favorite SB County vintages. Last of my 12 bottles.

Beckmen sure does know how to do a Syrah, but you *must* lay them down for a few years, and then decant-and-swirl these things for an hour or three. Big fruit, nice spiciness on the edges, wonderful balance between tannin and acid. Wish we had more, but we have a 2015 which we need to leave alone for at least a year or two.

I think this was outstanding. Slightly smoky nose, then strong (pleasant) taste of blackberry, followed by slightly spicy, long and heady finish.
(Decanted for an hour.)

Big nose on opening. Developing into a structured display of Tom's work. Nice ! Glad I have a few more!
