Interesting. Basically undrinkable on opening - super dense and tightly packed. Interesting nose - menthol seemed the dominant note. Let it sit for 24 hours and it began to open up into something quite elegant and interesting - dried fruit, sous bois, leather - still has an interesting note of menthol. Tannins have largely rounded out but a decent bit of acidity left - pretty well balanced, but lots of complexity there. Drinking well - but it needs some heavy decanting….

Dark ruby color, with a clear rim, this wine has aromas of oak, cassis, and red berries, with macerated cherries, cocoa powder and raspberry on the palate. It has smooth, velvety tannins, nice acidity, and a medium body, with a short, disappointing finish.
2014 was reportedly a cold, wet vintage in Tuscany, and this wine seems to be good evidence of that. I have had other bottles of Biondi-Santi Rosso that were much more enjoyable. This seemed to be a weaker version of what normally is a great wine.

Still holding up but I think these are on their way to reach maturity. Still fresh with the high acidity and all the red fruits, but also more of leather and wet leaves and undergrowth. Balanced and medium bodied, this peaks now I think.

Double decanted twice before being served an hour later. This appeared to be too little aeration. The structure was so immense, and the wine was incredibly dry. I had the final 1/4th of the bottle the following day, where it had finally given way to some fruit.
I imagine it would be a lot better in a hot vintage, as this was simply lacking for the price.
