"Walking the gnarled, old, dry-farmed and head-trained Negrette, Mondeuse, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignane, Chenin Blanc and others, one gets a feel for how vineyards in Napa once were. Planted in the 1930s, this is the oldest vineyard left in Oakville.

A great wine. At 8 years still rather fresh, but for sure well integrated and balanced. Pomegrade and red berries on the nose. Good acidity. Strong tannins in the background. After the fresh fruit comes deeper tones of tobacco, tar and pencil. A very unique wine!

Bold and powerful, more than usual for a zin. Got a little lost among the non-Cabernet Sauvignon California wines though.

Yum! Bottle was worth the wait. Lots of dark fruits, licorice, leather and pepper. 1hr decant helped but the second glass was even better.
