From a perfect looking bottle, this wine had a medium red center with some orange/tan at the rims. The medium intensity nose was mostly tertiary with its clove, gravel, plum and hint of cigar.
In the mouth, this wine was reasonably viscous and well balanced given its tertiary character. It was serious but friendly at the same time. The finish was subtle but pretty impressive. This wine had a bit of a bitter not for many hours. Shockingly enough, this seemed to improve after 6+ hours of air.
While this is not a wine that is going to wow anyone, it had an interesting, somewhat stern profile that would do pretty well with food. Drink now with extended air. There is probably not enough upside to hold.

Absolutely lovely - red apple, cherry, loam, mineral. The earthiness is in perfect balance with the delicious, lively fruit. At its apogée I suppose - but then who would have guessed this humble Beaune would be showing so well 27 years on?

Bottle had been standing upright for months, PopnPour, tasted over 4 hrs and day 2, bottle and cork in pristine condition -nearly opaque dark red/brown/purple with moderate clearing at edge -full bouquet of sweet decaying forest floor, fully mature Burg nose; plum pops on day 2 -well-balanced med acidity, med- weight but deep mid-palate with mature earthy elements, tannins mostly resolved but some sediment provides chewiness near end of the bottle, trace oak; more expansive with earthy black fruits on day 2 -pleasant suprise, fully mature drinking very well now, other bottles in perfect condition should have 3-5 years of excellent drinking ahead of them
