Cavallotto Dinner (Acquerello, San Francisco): Very deep color. This smelled more like Amarone than Barolo to me, and it also had a top note of stalky greenness and some VA as well. Round, medium+ weight with real chocolatey richness of dark fruit. Very good acidity and minerality. It loosened and became sweeter in the glass. Drier, tannic finish. Somewhat more nimble than the 2011 Bricco Boschis tasted before it, but still a little too much heft.

Tar, smoke, fennel, olive stone, tangerine/orange peel, tannin, iron, glycerin, freshly baked panetonne. The wine and the Wagyu steak was the perfect match. A Nebbiolo masterclass! Long life ahead and another superb wine from the 2011 vintage

Medium garnet, med+ intensity. Strawberry, raspberry, dried fruits, vanilla, mushroom, umami, violets, chocolate. High acidity and high smooth tannins. Pronounced on the palate and medium+ finish. Potential to develop further. Very good.

Beautiful full wine drinking well now. Drunk with several other Barolos including Grasso and Mascarello and this won out. The Reserva quality showed through

Still tight. So might as well just hold on. 20 year barolo program.
