  • I stumbled upon this wine in the cellar - I thought I had drank all of my bottles several years ago. I wasn't sure what I'd find, but this had held up very well. Medium bodied, quite elegant, a velvety texture and a nice mix of savory and fruit. Mainly cherries, game, leather, plums, iodine and a slight herbal note. Great QPR as always; too bad this wine isn't in our monopoly system anymore. Probably at peak soon (A-).

  • First night, I was thinking this might be getting old, as it didn't have the usual punch or panache: it seemed like the 35% Grenache was leading the way, making for a fairly boring wine. The second night, it was all game, meat, iodine and blood, with the 65% Syrah coming through finally. Medium bodied, velvety texture and still some tannins on the second night. I'll give my remaining bottles time - this took a while to open up (A-).

  • This took some time to really open up. Right out of the bottle it was underwhelming. But, with some time, it transformed nicely. At the peak it had a nice sense of structure with depth and life. At the start it felt underpowered -- lacking any energy and even a bit tense. So, this may need still more time in the cellar. I did come away feeling ready to get more.
