  • Still holding on. Nice cherry and mushroom flavors all over the nose and palate here. The acidity is still evident, impressively. It's very delicate, light, and subdued in some ways. Enjoyable to drink, and a ton of novelty points to try a 40 year old chianti.

  • So sad. Out of the gate it showed promise but the acidic-tart aftertaste told all. I refused to believe it, the wife didn't make it through more than 1/2 glass before she was done. I finished a glass but could not go longer. Nice tart fruit with a port-ish tang right out of the gate but over the next hour the acid grew in strength and the wine gained a rancid wet sponge/newspaper smell. It was definitely corked, it just didn't show right after opening. Still, worth drinking for the educational value, which is why I forced my way through the first glass. It was fun watching the server try to extract the cork from the bottle, that was the only joy I got out of it.
