≈75 min decant into a plastic, cylindrical pitcher which was then closed; TINY amount of very, VERY fine sediment noted; Private Preserve after Day 1
N: Closed; A melding of cherries & earth, perhaps a bit of orange rind -- & other unparsables
P: LM body; NICE, almost swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which fairly seamlessly evolves into a LONG, balanced finish with a TANGY/swtness (65:35) & HINTS of spice to the innocuously firming, very, VERY fine tannins. Went well with the night's Pk Chops Marsala/Mushrooms, & I'm thinking it may not yet QUITE have peaked. Nonetheless, for now & through '24, quite poss longer.
Day 3: N: Fragrantly ripe blk cherries (poss cola) & other unparsables, with intensity lurking; P showing Med, poss LM, body with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which seamlessly transitions into a TANGY/swt (60:40) finish with those innocuous tannins. Given the improvement from Day 1, this decidedly has NOT peaked, & could well benefit by another 2 yrs or so of cellaring, then EASILY making its 10th. Added benefit: It went better with tonight's Spaghetti Bolognese (HmMd) than I suspect many (most?) Pinots would have, interpolating from previous issues with Marinara Sauced items.
∑: My EXC, + it might even go a tick higher down the line. [As of early Aug '20, wine-searcher shows no available sources for this vintage].
Note: Also tasted on 4/29, 6/24, & 11/4/17.

P: Med, poss LM, body; ALMOST swtish frt met by some very, VERY finely, tannicly astringent pucker which slowly, seamlessly morphs into a very, VERY finely tannic yet almost swtish finish with a bit of tang. Based upon this, & reviews of multiple vintages in Prince of Pinot, I'm thinking this NEEDS into & probably through '20, then possibly making its 10th yr. [This vendor's $51.95 is ~ 13% lower than ALL its wine-searcher competition!]

Very nice fruit that’s drinking youthfully. My wife particularly liked this wine and it convinced me to take my Rochioli allocation this season.

Performed well in blind tasting of Sonoma pinots and even preferred over Rochioli.

Solid fruit, acid, and structure; however, I would ultimately go for the Rochioli all things equal.
