90-minute decant. Very very deep magenta color. Blackberry, rum cake, dark chocolate, thyme, and anise. Smooth, tongue drying palate. Firm tannins on the long finish.
I enjoyed this more than I expected, but it’s not something I’d seek out, especially considering the price point. It’s 100% CS aged in a combination of clay amphora and oak barrels. Certainly built to age.

Winorama: A winter in Wineland III; 1/4/2019-1/13/2019 (Portland/Willamette, Eureka, Napa): Interesting to try back to back Aaron Pott wines. This from the valley floor. While the other was very intense and dark and brooding this is a bit more accessible right now. Softer and smoother in style. Bits of red fruit (mostly like a darker cherry). Still has the tannins standing out a bit. A young wine. Needs some more time.

Fourth stop on our ninth day in Napa Valley is at Perliss Vineyards in Calistoga where we tasted a few vintages of the Perliss The Ravens by Aaron Pott and Anthony Perliss as well as a couple wines from Wingspan Wines by Aaron Pott and Tessa Perliss. Thank you again for having us out at your estate. It was devistating to see the damage from the latest fires running through here. Last wine up and last in a four year vertical was the 2014 The Ravens Cabernet Sauvignon from Perliss Estate. This is made up of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Perliss Estate Vineyard in Calistoga. This is aged for a total of 20 months in 75% new French oak barrels and 25% terra-cotta amphoras.
Dark ruby red with a purplish core. A touch floral on the nose with cinnamon, vanilla and dark cherries. Heavy tannins (8/10) with a ton of structure and full bodied. Young wine with dark brooding berries, cassis and black currants. Long finish. Drink till 2033.
