  • So one year later we open another bottle of this wine, only our second of six bottles and the experience is just the opposite of the previous. It’s now 9 years old and is drinking marvelously— Surprisingly fruity with a long finish across the palate. It lacks some of the softness and complexity that a pedigree Barolo can carry, but if you’re a fan of Barolo, you won’t be disappointed. I can only assume that our fist bottle was corked or in some way spoiled to earn the ire of our earlier review. Today we had just finished a bottle of Brunate Barolo by Marcarini, a much more conservative but great Barolo. So the contrast was fairly large. Seems like the 2013 Bricco San Pietro has several more years of life.

  • Turns out this should be used for cooking. This is a subpar Barolo that was foisted onto the American market where the vintners hoped the unsophisticated taste of the Americans would give it a pass. Have six more bottles to get through.
