IWS reprise (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Cherry over plum, sweetly fruited, pot pourri, black tea, fresh orange peel, slight tar, very clean. Lovely nose. The palate is very much a reflection of the nose, balanced with medium plus intensity acidity and medium plus chalky tannins go hand in hand with the fruit and other characteristics from the nose. Fresh and enjoyable.

IWS Piedmont tasting (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Black tea, cherries, plums, almost brambly notes, a little cream and slightly peppery spice. With time mushrooms and earth. Medium plus intensity acidity lends juicy freshness, the flavours very much a reflection of the nose, tannins are integrated, talc textured and persistent. Lovely.

Had a bottle one year ago which I can see in my notes that I was not happy about. Whether that was a “bad bottle” or whether it really have improved significant in the cellar in just one year, I can´t say (probably a combination of both). Anyway, this is what I would characterize as an “old style” Barolo. Heavy and with a significant acidity and tannin. Nose with leather, cedar and some cigar box. On the palate tobacco, hard toasted oak and a medium long finish. But still missing some complexity. It developed significant during 2-3 hours after opening. 88-90P

Another solid vintage for this wine. Enjoyable as a young wine with good acidity, fruit, and balance. A little edgy on the back end but should age quite nicely.

Nose with very much alcohol and no fruit at all. Very one stringed in the mouth. Not a pleasant experience. 78-79.
