High alcohol evident upon first whiff. Letting it sit for an hour helps matters. Aromas of dark cherry, plum, black tea, and wet hayfield. A bit stemmy on the back end, but not offensively so. The complexity of the aromatics is somewhat beguiling, and the structure is solid with the tannins still showing character on the slightly savory finish. I surmise this bottle could rest for a couple more years and still improve. Great QPR at $10.

Really nice for the price, maybe not wildly engaging but certainly nicely expressive and very well-balanced. Persistently aromatic with red and black plum tones, oscillating between brighter red fruit and a soft kind of spiced purple fruit, plus some gentle herbal nuance and surprising acidic spine. Very soft texture but with plenty of fruit and energy. It's difficult for the average $25 southern rhone blend to grab me as much as a northern rhone might, but still, this is well-made. Just edged it's way into my "yep, this is great" category.

Highly approachable upon opening after almost 7 yrs. The ageing n age ability of this wine hides the 14.5 ABV. Black fruit and dried herbs on the nose and stewed strawberry, grilled plum, herbs and a hint of blood orange on the palette. Pairs beautifully with a blackened or well seasoned salmon fillet or a variety of other foods that include an herbaceous element. Open or hold - these wines, especially this Cru age beautifully.

Clear deep cherry red core just kissed with purple towards the rim. 5
PNP and enjoyed over several hours. Clean. Nose is red fruited and vanilla up front. Subtle sweet purple flowers linger in the background. 11
Raspberries, plum, and woody early in the evening with dry and bright finish. Black tea and herbal flavors playing second fiddle. Several hours after opening and blueberry and blackberry jump in. Could use 2-3 hours in the decanter now to help settle and balance things out. This juice was clearly best at the end of the evening. 16
I really did like this Grenache dominated blend immediately on opening. Had touches of bitterness mid palate, but by the last pour this Lirac showed quite well. 8

Peaking; still good fruit, softer tannin, bouquet of southern France. Excellent w BBQ salmon.
