Well while 'advertised' to be beyond drinking i think its gotten much better here 3 years later. Mild oak, light tannins, slight smoke, earth, dark fruits and a very nice finish.

shared with pat at selkirk manor. the good news is that the wine has not changed much since last tasting 16 months ago. the bad news is that it does not seem to be headed anywhere special. it is not fare to complain at this price point. at the same time, i don't buy into the publicity being given to this wine. some sources suggest cellaring another 5 years. it may hold up for that period of time but i don't see any potential for further development. i am tempted to go back for one more bottle just in case i am missing something that could result in a pleasant surprise.

This has come together quite well. Still a bit reticent on the nose, with dark cherry licorice, wood and earth, leads to similar flavors, good depth, well balanced by fine tannis and acidity. No sweetness or heat - excellent.

Good wine, well structured with lots of sour cherry and some wood/vegetal components. Popped and vinturied, not really pleasant on its own (84) but with went well with food (88) so split the difference.
