  • Staining black-red purple, on the upward slope, full bodied, and the fruit is not overwhelmed by its savory side. An abundance of blackberry and dark plum, some black olive. Not velvety or suave but a wine with stuffing and deep flavor. Closer to a 91 after 48 hours. Another half decade should delineate its bounty.

  • Excellent
A really nice showing on PnP and with about an hour decant. Savory with salted plum, dark cherry, some earth and roasted meat. There is a higher note glossy red fruit riding on top, but it settles in and settles down quickly, helping provide some lift and energy. Soothing and comforting, but not warming like we often get from the southern Rhone.

This may be at peak or close to it, so I think the best drinking might be in the next couple of years, though I could see this going out another five.

  • Crimson in color. 13% ABV. Savory nose of dark fruits, bacon fat and flowers. Medium body with medium acidity. There is an old world rusticity complemented by tart fruits. Plum, cherry, iodine and fatty meats on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Really good but I was left hoping for more. Best over the next several years.

  • Purple in color. 13% ABV. Soaring nose of red fruits, bacon fat, olive brine and flowers. Medium body with ample acidity. Soft, approachable and easy to drink. Black cherry, gamey meats, smoke and blood on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Delicious, well made Old World Syrah that is priced really well. Lots to like here. Best over the next 2-4 years.
