  • This surprised & wowed me 2 years ago. It's still rocking and at 10 yrs and showing youth. Not peaking yet. It's just so much more impressive day 2 or with a longer decant, and a cooler than room temp helps.

  • Purple with brownish hints on the rim. On the nose: some honey, cigar box, forest floor, cured meat, plum, black pepper.

On the palate: dry, high acidity, really soft tannins, medium alcohol, cured meat, plum, eucalyptus and black pepper. Long finish

  • W1. May have been the bottle but lots of acid and little fruit or other flavor. No bueno.

  • Our last of three bottles and the best of them. After a 60 minute decant, this opened up nicely. Aromas include loads of crushed blackberry, black plum, black currant, olive tapenade, and smoked pork belly. Nearly full bodied, it's super smooth and quite plush. The tannin is fully resolve and integrated with the modest acid. On the palate it has signature Cayuse funk weaved throughout, and flavors of blackberry, blueberry, plum, violet, and black licorice. I feel pretty confident in saying that this is pretty much at the end of its peak. Recommend drinking up before 2025 rolls around.

  • PnP, consumed over 3 hours. Appearance: Clear, medium ruby with some edge browning and cloudiness. Nose: Clean, medium intensity with developed aromas of smoke, dried black and red fruit - blackberry, black cherry, and strawberry, black olive, and leather. Palate: Dry, medium acid, medium tannins are soft and supple, medium+ intensity, labelled at 13.4% abv - feels closer to 14.5% showing developed flavors of dried prune, black olive, and spice with a medium+ finish.

Balance: Very good - dominated by dried fruit characteristics
    Length: Excellent
    Intensity: Excellent
    Complexity: Excellent

Overall, an excellent wine dominated by ripe dry fruit characteristics, feels slightly out of balance to me. Showing its age but has the stuffing to easily drink well for next 2-4 years.
