  Opened and decanted a half hour ahead of mixed leftover chicken and turkey sandwiches. It needed 3+ hours to fully open up. Opaque purple crimson. The floral nose brings spring violets, purple lavender, candied blackberries, dark plums, wood smoke, and blueberry cobbler. The palate is medium-full, square, compact, and juicy, bringing a core of sour rhubarb, blueberries, and blackberries mixed with black tea, cloves, sour red cherries, and lingering raspberries into a tannic finish. This has great potential to become more balanced and refined. Drink 2024-2034. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment score: 91.

  Nez très charmeur de petits fruits rouges et noirs entremêlés, des notes de conifères qui évoquent la vendange entière. Encore un peu d’élevage mais rien d’agaçant. De corps léger, c’est une lecture élégante de l’appellation, d’un très bel équilibre, mais de longueur modeste. Sans la profondeur du 2015, il plait par sa finesse, son fruité délicat et ses tanins polis. L’aromatique fait toujours Côte de Nuits sur cette cuvée. Délicieux et prêt à boire. 91 pts

  First time I have tried the '16. Seemingly, quite lightly-built at first, this took on extra weight and structure with air. The fruit is quite reticent compared to the 2015, but it's beautifully balanced even now. I expect it will show more complexity in 2 or 3 years.

  This shows that it’s absolutely possible to get excellent burgs under $60. Wonderful density and power from the vintage, I really the concentration of 16s. It still retains an elegant tension that makes for a great expression of Pinot. A floral nose and a palate with depth of red berries and cherries. Plenty of structure left in the tank to age. Apparently his whites aren’t half bad too.
