  • Beautiful and concentrated bouquet with ripe dark fruits and pleasant oak. On the palate red and dark berries, beautiful and fresh acidity and a pleasant touch of sweetness and well dosed oak. Beautiful and juicy wine still in the first half of its maturity stage.

  • D3 DipWSET STILL WINES - Prep with Lauren (home): a revisit of a bottle coravined in January 2022

    A: Deep garnet
N: Medium (+) nose of black cherry, prune, dried red cherry, dried raspberry,, dried blackberry, baking spice, tomato puree, minor green bell pepper
P: Smoke, black cherry, prune, dried red cherry, dried raspberry,, dried blackberry, baking spice, tomato puree, menthol, minor green bell pepper. Dry, medium (+) acid, medium (+) chewy tannin, medium (+) intensity, high alcohol, full body, medium (+) length
C: Balanced, intensity is good, good length but not complex . very good quality. I think this may have lost a few points since it was coravined in January.

Suitable for ageing as still some fresh fruit in here and enough acidity and tannin to keep the wine fresh

    Vinification:
vines on average 21 years old
    about 50hl/ha
5.5 days of skins in open vat at 28 oF with punchdown every 2nd hour
24months in French oak (50% new and 50% 2nd fill)

  • A: Deep garnet
N: medium (+) nose of jammy black currants and blackberry, green bell pepper, tomato purée, chocolate, masses of cinnamon and nutmeg, dried sage
    P: Menthol.
Dry, very high acidity ( I think someone heated a bit here), high alcohol, high sandy tannins (mostly on gums and upper mouth), full body, medium (+) intensity but medium finish for the fruit. Chocolate persists though.
C: Tannins and acid balance well. Length on the fruit let’s it down. Aromatics are well defined, good typically, some complexity, good intensity. Very good quality but needs more length.
Developing so still suitable for ageing with structure to support it as it ages and dials up the complexity.

The wine is savory up front but resolves into some vey ripe black fruit and yet a very dry finish. This should differentiate it from cali cabs

  • Really nice South African cab. Blackcurrant, dark berries and pepper smell. Little bit of tannins, but nice and easy to drink. Medium length. Good value!

  • First SA red. Very fruity, quite tannic, paired with a prosciutto/beef salami pizza. Lots of blackcurrant and other dark fruits on the nose as well as some green bell pepper.
