Spicy and rich nose, with nice tropical and stone fruit notes, petrichor and herbs too. Silky and rich before quickly turning elegant and stony. Beautiful delicate spice, earth and fruit notes linger long. This is still a little sweet, but it has that seamless integrated sweetness that mature auslese can have, so textured and long. Amazing stuff.

The difference between the outside of the bottle (corroded capsule due to some seepage) and the inside could not be bigger. Fresh and lively as if bottled yesterday instead of 30 years ago. Very light color. Rich nose with tropical fruits, honey and zesty citrus followed by a matching taste on the palate. Perfect balance between sweetness and acidity. This is why I adore German auslese. Will go on for decades. Perfect companion for the foie gras with confit the canard.

Whoa the 1989 Maximin Grünhäuser Herrenberg Auslese #93 is jaw-droppingly excellent. The expressive nose seems to never end, offering up changing aromas throughout the night that include apricot, mango, orange blossom, petrol, and dried herb. Impeccably balanced palate with a pitch-peprfect pairing of acidity and residual sugar. Dense and rich but oh so vibrant. This could last forever.

stored since 1990 in a wine refrigerator, golden yellow, scents of mango, citrus, orange peel, honey, wet stone, very elegant, complex and vigorous. On the palate mango explosions first overwhelming everything else, than after some minutes adding peach and minerals, sage, dry, very long. Scratching at perfection! A Perfect aperitif.
