  • First smoky Pinot I’ve had.

    Totally different for a Pinot.

  • My previous tasting notes still apply. A wonderfully rustic, slightly horsey and very promising Pinot Noir. Terrific value at 23€.

  • Luminous raspberry red color with a very pale, almost clear rim. Robust, earthy and quite rustic nose with spicy aromas of sweaty horse blanket, barnyard, fresh red fruits, reductive gunpowder smoke, some meaty notes of bloody game, a little bit of peppery spice, a hint of savory wood and a touch of ripe raspberry sweetness. The wine feels medium-bodied, intense and surprisingly rich on the palate despite its dry and robust overall character. There are complex flavors of ripe dark forest berries, savory wood spice, some sour cherry bitterness, a little bit of dark sour plums and a rustic hints of stables and barnyard. Overall the structure relies pretty much on the high acidity as the tannin department is pretty light, albeit showing pretty ncie grip. The finish is quite bitter and savory with flavors of tart lingonberries, sour cherry bitterness, some sour plums, a little bit of coarse old wood spice, a crunchy hint of ripe raspberry and a touch of funky barnyard character. The tannins lend a lightly grippy touch to the aftertaste.

A very lovely, delicious and complex Pinot Noir that shows wonderful typicity, spectacular freshness and very charming, unpolished rustic funk. Overall the wine feels very primary, but it is still remarkably drinkable and complex for its young age. Although thoroughly drinkable already, the savory wood spice characteristics are still a bit too much on the fore right now for my taste; I can imagine they will integrate nicely with the fruit if given enough time in a cellar, pushing the wine's already high points even further up. Worth its price at 23€.
