When allowed an hour of decanting, this 100% Shiraz showed notable depth. Aromas of cherry, chocolate brownies and Werther coffee flavored hard caramels. Dark chocolate, ripe cherry and cranberry flavors. Round tannins.

2016 Schild Estate Shiraz $15. Mid-dark garnet; peppery, bright red fruit, plum and wood nose; mid-big body; good structure; long hot (14.5 alc.) fruity finish. BBQ, Ribs and pasta wine.

{screwcap, 14,5%} Plenty of raw big raspberry and light coconut aromas. Cliched Barossa shiraz; pretty photographic label, raw and ripe fruit, raspberry, etc. a bit crude and rustic overall, low gritty tannins, not much acid, and a warm, blocky finish. Hard to call weight as it’s a patchy style, full-bodied in parts, and yet hollow elsewhere. Has a ripe but high-yield feel to it. Not for cellaring.

QPR Alert! Surely one of my summer discoveries. Pairs well with BBQ. Unless you only prefer very light red wine, this should not disappoint you!
