Alex's 'Top Burgundy' 2012 (The Medlar, London): Mid gold. Quite expressive on the nose, richly mineral. Slightly iodine-scented. Quite rich and full. A sense of underlying tension. There's GC weight here. Minerally on the fairly long finish. ****

La Paulee Gala (New York, NY): Rich and large scaled for Chablis, a bit powerful but also advanced. Not quite as lean, linear and direct as it probably came across 5 years ago. Drink up.

(François Raveneau Chablis 1er Cru Monts Mains) Group's #1 (my #1) – 49 pts; 6 first places, 5 second place votes, 1 third, 1 last place vote – lemon yellow color; lovely, bright lemon, lemon blossom, white truffle and vanilla nose; delicious, sweet lemon, with good acidity and vanillin edges; long finish

Top burgundy dinner (Medlar, Chelsea, London): Pungent, wet wool nose, the fruit on the palate a bit sickly, big and interesting, not delicious
