Alto Piemonte (Terra Rossa): Rather well-behaved and MOR compared to some of tonight's wines. Smooth and savoury, with a flavour of chestnuts (is that a first in a wine?), then rather tannic and spicy towards the finish. Not sure the riserva treatment has benefited the wine... but it's still pretty good.

Coravin. Light ruby, just slight bricking towards the rim common in even youthful Nebbiolo; high intensity aromatics, plenty of red cherry fruit, slight tar, slight spice (cinnamon?); palate is light bodied, high youthful tannin, alcohol is well balanced (14% on label), youthful red fruit; finish is medium-plus length. Not quite as exceptional as my experience with the 2009 (though that had more age when I tasted it), but still a well made Nebbiolo with exceptional balance and good depth, very youthful but not purely fruit, traditionally made. Worth a few at the price, but it does keep getting more expensive each year and is getting close to its value (~$60). It probably needs at least 3+ years before opening another bottle. 92+ 2 hours decanted: This hasn't opened up at all, if anything has closed down. This may require a bit of time in bottle before it shows its potential.
