Opened this at Chao Shan Cuisine to celebrate my mother's birthday.
Deep purple in colour. Perfectly perfumed nose of blueberries, raspberries, licorice, tobacco, and aged leather. On the palate this wine resembles a well crafted left-bank Bordeaux with some green notes, bell pepper, capsicum, refined oak, cedar and mocha.
Excellent finesse and balance in this wine. Tannins are chewy with acidity and alcohol in harmony. Simply brilliant.

Really harmonious bordeaux'ish blend from ZA. Top of cork had me suspecting taint but once I buried the wine key, not a chance. Beautiful fruit with lots of aromatic zest on the nose and attack in the taste. A little thin on the mid-palate but loads of dark fruit and earth on the finish to leave you with a stupid grin. My last bottle, but thinking another 5 years with proper cellaring is a sure bet, maybe longer...

Wish I had purchased a case. Lovely wine. Served with a stuffed pork roast and the pairing was perfection. Popped and poured and it seemed to improve with time in the glass. Nose was interesting and leaned towards old world. Some green notes that really add interest and indicate S. Africa to me. Palate was restrained and definitely S. African with the green elements, touches of bell pepper but nice fruit and complexity. Really quite enjoyable. Would buy again.

With 3 hours in the decanter, the wine really showed its quality. Expressive, full nose of dark fruits, blackberries, black plums, cedar, smokey leather, tobacco, green peppery spices.
Palate is balanced and complex, relatively full bodied but with fine tannins and balancing acidity. Medium+ finish.
Fully agree with another user note on old world style with new world vibrancy. There's an energy and life to this wine, but tempered and controlled.
Should last another 10 years more, but so delicious now. At this price, a steal ...

12 Blind Wines in Charlotte (Charlotte, NC): Slo-ox for 3 hours before sampling. Wonderful nose of dark fruits and cedar with a waft of smoke and tobacco signifying an elegant, rich wine. Smooth on the mouthfeel, notes of black raspberry and currants dance around the well-integrated tannins on your palate and linger lovingly for a lengthy finish. Stylistically the wine is Old World though the fruits have a New World vibrancy to them. Tonight it displays a fantastic balance of the two worlds. 1 WOTN, 3 votes in Top 3. Tied for 5th overall.
