Secret ancient-vine gem in the Arnoux lineup. Of course, those vines weren't quite so ancient back in 1993. This is now fully mature, with the old Burgundy sous bois aroma and the material, both fruit and structure, having transcended its liquid state to become pure ether. There is some remaining plumminess but more in tone and hue than in actual fruit. I think I liked it better a couple years ago when it still had some fresher sweet berry to it, but it's not like this is feeble or anything. It is still in healthy form and bold enough to show vestiges of the the muscular form Nuits was associated with at this time.

Savory, almost sappy red fruit and a firm acidic backbone. Super floral nose. Quite lively for its age. Should continue to drink beautifully for the better part of a decade.

Popped and double decanted for sediment. This starts out a bit suspect but pulls together very nicely with air. This wine is fully mature but not showing any earthy elements. Instead, it maintains its red fruit profile and a hint of sweetness. The structure is fully resolved. Great stuff. Drink now.

Excellent Nuits here, and one of the better showings I've gotten out of a 1993 in some time. It is a bit mute and out of sorts for the first few minutes but after that it comes together impressively. It has a mature profile, but there is still lots of sweet, gushing, glossy red-cherry fruit here; this doesn't have the duller autumnal cast that you often see in this age range. The fruit is aged and savory, but it is still fruit. The structure is almost completely resolved, making the texture smooth and streamlined.

(Arnoux Robert Nuits St.Georges Les Corvées Pagets) There's a dense core of fruit that's a more roast expression than for 98. Sweeter and more intense palate, even the mid-palate has more intensity - though less fireworks. Better length, and that green note is there again - it's more easily identifiable this time as fresh mint. Interesting, vs the 1998 this has more of everything - except charm! No worry about waiting another 5 or so years to see if it mellows, but drinking today I prefer the 1998.

Similar to my last bottle. Guess it hasn't been that long.
