Fresher and more poised than the 2009 NSG 1er that preceded it, and ultimately more to my taste. Dark fruit, mineral feel, a touch of liquorice and violet. Moderately structured but seemed developed and open enough to enjoy, although another five years of improvement seems likely.

Arnoux Lachaux NSG tasting. Drank in Conterno Sensory. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of lifted dark violet florals, chalky minerality, dense undergrowth earth, dark red cherries. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), structured medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of ripe dark red cherries, black cherries, dark licorice, polished leather, hints of fresh blood iron animal meat. Very long finish. Very good quality. Lots of extract and power within. Will be better with a bit more development. Guessed correctly as 2014 but wrong plot.
