Nice nose of raspberry and bramble with a medium mouthfeel filled with light red fruit and decent acidity, this is a wine that does well with food, good QPR.

Decanted and poured and served blind in a line up 9 global pinot noir costing 2 to 6x the price, this well made pinot was the least preferred but was none the less a good showing and a clear value for pinot lovers. Decanted and served immediately after, it is still quite young and will improve

Sat, 02/16/19, $2 Tasting (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Grapes from sandy soil vyds "in the low part of Tupungato." Fermented "in 3rd-use open casks, with tamping or Pillage. Then malolactic fermentation is carried out in 1st & 2nd-use casks from Burgundy, made especially for P.N, and the wine is aged in those same casks for 10-14 mos." 13% ABV, 1.76 g/L R.S., 5.40 T.A.
N: Slightly closed init, but evolves to fairly fragrant crans & other darker frts with swirling
P: LM body; RNDISH entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by some firming astringency which QUITE resolves by the LONG, balanced, pleasantly tangy/swt/bitter finish. For now & into, if not through, '20. My VG+, poss VG+/EXC-. [Would have scored higher IF the P was up to the level of the N.] 93 pts WA & 90 Suckling. [This vendor's $14.95 is as good as any on wine-searcher!]

Bought a bottle because of RP rating of 93 - but skeptical. Nice nose of bright red fruits with a hint of bramble or oak (?). Medium-bodied with a lot of rich, ripe fruit - strawberry/cherry at first and then cranberry and spice after some airtime, along with sour notes, a plush texture, and medium finish. It drinks well above its price point, but is too simple to be rated 93.
Sat, 07/21/18, $2 Tasting (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Grapes from sandy soil vyds "in the low part of Tupungato." Fermented "in 3rd-use open casks, with tamping or Pillage. Then malolactic fermentation is carried out in 1st & 2nd-use casks from Burgundy, made especially for P.N, and the wine is aged in those same casks for 10-14 mos." 13% ABV, 1.76 g/L R.S., 5.40 T.A.
N: SMOKY, ripe, with undertones of spice & straws/red rasps WAY underneath; Marginal var character
P: LM body; Rndish entry with ALMOST swtish frt deftly balanced by a BIT of tangy astringency which pretty much mitigates as it transitions into the LONG, fairly pleasant finish with notes of bitterswtness to the SCANT, very, VERY fine tannins. For now & through '20, I suspect, + MIGHT improve a tad through '18? Decently done, but var character an issue? My VG, poss VG+. [This vendor's $14.95 is $2 < the only other listing on wine-searcher.]
