Great cote Rotie! Lots of crushed white pepper, meat/iron, blackberries and all of the other hallmarks of northern rhone. Delicate, extremely well balanced and long taste. This will be terrific in a few years!

I feel a bit like I “hit the jackpot” today with a couple of outstanding Northern Rhône wines, both absolutely outstanding and quite impressionable. Although this is relatively young, it’s clearly in development, but very approachable. 100% Syrah from Cote Blonde, mostly whole cluster fermentation in stainless and concrete, with only 25% new oak, the rest in aged barrels. As per my normal protocol, it was decanted and enjoyed with a thick cut pork chop and grilled sweet peppers and onions..
Deep ruby, full body, medium alcohol. Lifted and pronounced aromas of purple flowers, dark black and blueberries, ripe cherries, licorice, smoked meat, bacon fat, chocolate, all underpinned with chewy, mineral laden soil. Lively palate of slightly tart mixed black and blue fruits, dried cocoa powder, bacon fat, chewy, black licorice and black rocky dirt framed with grainy tannin and medium acidity. Big finish with the structure adding to the very long ending. Great pairing with the food. Can drink now with decanting, or can cellar for another ten plus years. Excellent!

Great and complex. A bit young. Needs a few more years.
