Shockingly this is still in very good shape. Fading for sure, but still tasty. Great leathery nose with some fruit left. Fully integrated tannins, with medium light finish. Came from a friend's cellar at 55 degrees since release. If it hasn’t been stored properly, it will probably be undrinkable.
A pleasant surprise.

Opened an hour and half before serving, drank over next 2hr.
Aromas of soil, ripe fruit, and leather, full but nothing vibrant.
Smooth, very little tannin, some acidity remaining. Rich fruit flavour is showing the heat of the vintage. This seemed ready, maybe a bit over the hill, but not by much. Certainly not too old

Decanted 1 hour, not quite as good as the bottle had back in August but very good none the less. The nose has plenty of musty woody notes with plums and wet earth, the palate shows plums, cherry, cassis, truffles, earthy woody notes.

Wow this was good, decanted 1hr the nose was full of must, wet stone, tea and leather. The palate was complex, with an ever evolving array of rich plum, cherry, stone, truffles, black coffee, meaty notes and plenty of earth. I think it is worth noting that I have had this bottle in the same location for nearly decade, I have two more bottle and I am in no hurry to drink them but why wait. Yum!!

(RUFFINO CHIANTI CLASSICO DUCALE GOLD) #2; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-dark; NOSE-Evergreen forest, little mint leave & dark chocolate; TASTE-much firmer tannins, sour asparagus, more heat, over ripe & disjointed; the heat of this vintage hurt this wine, quite despicable; GV-84

I can repeat my note of 9/7/2014 for this wine. Very resolved, refined, elegant. Close to "CCR perfection". and still a few years left in it.
