  • Drank over three days. A very nice surprise. Good intensity of cherries and earth. Tannin and acidity in a perfect spot (for me), integrated but enough there to drive the long finish. Oak completely integrated. The first day was the best, second day also good, the third day lost the fruit intensity. A very nice Chianti, particularly for the price. I drank alongside its 2015 baby brother, which shows it's youth, 2011 outperformed.

  • Thank you Bin707... for your detailed TN. Based on it, we decanted this bottle for ~40 minutes and were rewarded. In the glass the wine was a medium ruby to a faded rim. The nose was quite earthy, with notes of red fruit mixed in and poking through. The core of the medium bodied palate was very similar -- earthiness with red fruit notes -- along with an occasional touch of some darker red fruit and some spice. The acidity started, and stayed, balanced throughout, and the tannins were nicely integrated. The wine will probably hold for another few years.
This was our last bottle of the 2011 vintage, but we still have two bottles of the 2012 which will hold until the Fall, when homemade pizza night resumes.

  • VLGJeff is our hero on this one! We read his review and decanted 30 minutes. Even as we drank it over the NEXT two hours, it got better... A delicious bouquet invites you to an earthy mid-bodied candy-colored red offering the complexity of a flavor profile changing each sip. The earthiness is high, the fruit layers-down. Get to it, reach for it and you're rewarded in this beverage. An acceptable finish leaves a tobacco, spice, pepper even a mushroom memory. Yum.

  • Slo-oxed for 15 minutes but definitely needs more air time. A 20 - 30 minute decant might be better -- has a small amount of sediment. Some dark red fruit and earth notes on the nose. The medium bodied palate showed some red fruit (cherry), darker berries (cran- and black-), and earth. The acidity is juicy and a bit more than needed to balance, but became less noticeable as the meal progressed. There is still a touch of drying tannin on the finish. This wine will probably hold for another few years.
