Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 95.4 points

  • Agree with prior review. For me, this type of lower acidity flavor profile is ideal. Chewy tannins. Dark fruit. Long juicy finish.

  • Deep, dark, reddish-purple garnet in color; essentially opaque. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe dark fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & cassis with overtones of floral & earthy/dusty notes, mint, spices, herbs, minerals, dark cocoa, coffee, some smoky notes, cedar & a hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, dark cocoa, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but needs & should continue to develop further with additional aging at which time it may merit a higher score (96+).

The "Palengat" appears to be more forward & accessible at this stage of development (although it too needs time) than the "Galitzine." As Michael Broadbent used to say, it is an "iron fist in a velvet glove."

  • Double decant. 1hr to open up. Opaque, deep ruby in the glass. Massive nose of black cherry, black currant, touch of leather. Full bodied. Silky smooth tannins with good mouth feel. Long finish. Another great bottle from QC.

  • The nose was intense, showing crushed raspberry and blackberry with spicy florals, crushed stone minerality, cedar, graphite, and hints of wild herbs. On the palate, I found silky, enveloping textures with a mix of blue and black fruits, firmed up by brisk acids and mounting tannin. The finish was wonderfully long, structured, yet still elegant, showing pretty ripe berries, plum, and with a staining of purple-tinged flowers across the senses.
