Nose is more like a good Beaumont with dark and concentrated cherry and loads of spice. Particularly nice cola spice. Palate has more dark cherry, has decent weight and power, and is overall well balanced. Maybe a little bit of Echezeaux character texturally. This is the best Grivot I’ve had in a long while. Bad glassware and still quite a pleasant surprise. 92 - 93.

At a first stage of maturity, this is a good Echézeaux but for the moment, not better than that. Smooth sensual texture, a fair amount of concentration, and spicy red and dark fruits. Cellared since original release.

2001 vs 2002 DRC tasting with a few others; 10/20/2018-10/21/2018 (Marcel's by Robert Wiedmaier, DC and Bryan's house): Very youthful nose displaying deeply toned concentrated black fruit, dark caramel, espresso bean and earth. Excellent concentration, packed jammy black fruit, dense, rich and youthful, medium acidity, a hint of tannins and a medium to long dense deeply toned black fruit driven finish. It is a big scale wine that is a bit monolithic. This may need more time than the DRC Echezeauxs, perhaps two more decades?

Very nice but not great and probably at its peak. Dark fruited with some earthy flavours. It is quite powerful but it also dries out a bit at the end.
