Dinner with Florentino Grangeon, Co owner of Cristia/Theodoric (La Fete): Coming after the renaissance, this shows lot of more stuffing and power. Prune, leather, high alcohol, full tannins, full body. Finish medium plus. Would have benefited with a much longer decant or age. Definitely one for aging.

Pleasant to drink but nothing special at this point. Tasty but lacking in complexity and depth. Needs a fair amount of time to develop - hope I can hold on to my bottles that long!

Candied red cherry liqueur and dried flowers dominate the youthfully primary profile, with a linear expression of the varietal currently limiting the layering of the execution. A stunted flavor expansion here; two hours in the decanter allowed for a bit more depth, but overall this lacks personality and concentration at the moment. Finishes lithe and slightly diluted. The would-be VV complexity is barely evident on the final sips. Hold for 5+ years. 90-92++ points.

This is a lovely CDP full of finesse and elegance. Not a blockbuster at all with a fragrant, garrigue-filled nose and a seamless, silky style. Delicious flavors of black raspberries, licorice and flinty minerals follow through to a finely-crisp finish with notes of garrigue spices, violets and a lingering lick of rock. Good now.
