Italian Wine Scholar Class at the Texas Wine School. Medium ruby, with a garnet hue. Med (+) aromas of black currant, ripe red cherry, plum, anise and mellow spice as a result of 24 months of aging in very large Slavonian oak casks. Dry, with plenty of ripe, rich fruit. Med (+) acidity, med (+) tannins and high alcohol (14.5%). It is surprisingly approachable at only six years of age, perhaps due to 2014 being a lighter, fresher vintage in Montalcino.
