Italian Wine Scholar Class @ the Texas Wine School. Decanted. Med+ garnet w/ a brown hue. Med+ aromas of black cherry, ripe red cherry, violet, plum, anise, cedar, & sweet baking spices as a result of 24 mos. in very large Slavonian oak casks. Dry, with plenty of ripe, rich fruit. Med+ acidity & tannins & high alcohol (14.5%). Full bodied, with med+ flavor intensity & length. It is drinking really well at 10 yrs and should continue to do so for several more years.

Medium to full body, transparent, mature cherry colour with bricky rims. Delicate aroma of blue and red fruits, flowers, cedar wood, tar and leathery background. Rounding palate of ripe blackberry and cherry, grippy tannins, juicy acidity and long, still fresh finish. Complex and balanced and harmonies wine. Food friendly, well paring to fettuccine in white porcini sauce. Serve 16ºC - 18ºC. Still requires aeration, open one hour ahead. Drink now and the next eight/ten years.

Been working on the 2013s in my cellar lately and here is another example of a 2013 Brunello in prime drinking window. This wine is on the lighter side as far as Brunello is concerned, but is very enjoyable nonetheless. Primary red fruits and secondary notes of mushrooms and earth. Tannins have smoothed nicely and this is great with or without decant. If you are sitting on 2013s, I’d say in the majority of cases, no need to wait longer.

Surprisingly smooth and drinkable out of the gate. Strawberries, mushroom notes although nose was somewhat muted on this. At under $40 this was a good QPR. Drink now or hold.
