  • 1995 Williams Selyem Hirsch Vineyard Pinot Noir. Singed orange oil. Bing cherry. Tar. Stem. There’s depth to the fruit, but this is light in body. The wine is fully expressive at this age, and Madeirized fruit is just starting to develop, barely. This is very temperature and air sensitive, and is evolving in the glass dramatically, with occasional dumb periods and then an expressive one. In it’s louder moments, there’s a sort of mild truffle. 30 second finish with aged fruit and light, cut wood. Exquisite!

  • Damn this was pretty. Potpurri, baking spice, and musk waft out of the glass along with rose petals and a mix of fruit aromas. I just parked my nose there and breathed for a while because the nose on this wine was just that gorgeous. On the palate, much of the same notes came through, but the volume on the fruit shined. It wasn't opulant, but the red and dark cherry notes were pure, elegant, and rich despite there being a lightness on the palate. This stuff has a delicate mouthfeel, but a concentration of fruit and a lot of dynamic musk and florals. Unremarkable finish, but that bouquet is still echoing in my nostrils. Too bad this stuff is almost impossible to find more of.

  • What a gorgeous bottle of wine. Deep red in color, no bricking. A light, pretty nose of strawberries. The fruit is lovely and smooth on the palate, deep cherry flavors. Raspberry notes develop with some time and air. Faint plum notes on the mid-palate add to the complexity. Beautiful balance, fine acidity, smooth tannins. Finishes long, light and lovely with strawberry notes. At 25 years on, this is a bright and lively wine.

  • Floral and mineral driven with deep dark berry fruit. Harmonious with ripe fruit while the high acid backdrop gave it abundant energy and freshness. Everybody thought it was a NSG from burgundy when it was served blind. I think it is very Gevrey.

  • Burt Williams Dinner (Divino): Beautiful nose of berries, red cherries, and a hint of leather. Fully integrated tannins with red berries, cherries, and blood orange flavors on the palate. Good acidity and long finish. What a beautiful wine. May have scored it higher if served a bit earlier in the evening :)
