  • 2023 Greek Adventure; 9/11/2023-9/22/2023 (Crete, Milos, Athens): Popped and poured; no formal notes. This glass was poured from Coravin. A fun, predominantly red fruited Xinomavro that has an interesting sweet corn sort of thing going on. Red fruits and leather. Structure is firm but well managed and not punishing. Balanced. A few years of age and Coravin may have played a role in development.

  • Rouge violet moyennement foncé.
Violette, fruits des champs confits et un peu d'épices au nez.
Acidité moy, longueur moy-, corps moy, petits fruits noirs confits, tanins faibles.
Comme bien d'autres millésimes, rien de très complexe ni puissant mais très agréable à boire et solide RQP.

  • Young, still dark fruited, but quite tightly packed. More tightly-coiled darker fruits with fairly prominent tannins on the palate. After a few hours in the decanter it relaxed a little and expanded a bit more, but for me this a keeper for a couple more years right now. Very good, but should be excellent given that time.

  • Dense amalgam of red and black fruits on the nose, plus baking spices, wild herbs, leather and tar, a little bit of sweet orange candy, roses, and conifer forest. Quite tannic, plenty of acid, good overall balance, just a little rough around the edges. This might just need some time to smooth out. The 2016 got a lot better with 24+ hours of air, but this bottle of 2017 will not get that opportunity. Overall the 2017 just seems chunkier and more open-knit than the 2016. Good stuff though. Comes recommended, especially if you're looking for something to have with a rich and savory protein dish; braised beef cheeks sound perfect.

  • Without any decanting, this medium body Greek Xinomavro exploded from the glass with notes of vanilla, cherries, anise seed, lychee and led pencil. Tremendously long and smooth begging for another sip. Drink now and the following 5 years. Impressive for $33 CAD, stocks are almost out.
