  • I was told that this is the 100th anniversary of the lynch Moussas under the ownership of the Costeja family. On the nose it is very restrained with hard to find fruit. On the palette it is silky and velvety with blackberry and cassis fruit. At the finish I find cedar and a vanilla bean lingering flavor.

  • Dry black fruits, minerals, herbs and cedar. Palate is clean and persistent from entry to finish. Medium to full-bodied. After sometime in the glass, there are aroma of fermented soya bean and gravel. Finish is velvety, earthy and lingering. Ready to drink now with an hour of decanting. A few years of aging will be even better.

  • Nose is a bit hot on opening, but with an hour’s aeration we get cedar, blackcurrant and violet notes. Palate presents a wall of powerful tannins that bode nicely for future development but chastise the impatient drinker; dry, smoky, classical, but thankfully not completely austere. A very correct, old-school claret. Totally agree with Xavier (below) that this is a ‘masculine’ toughie of a wine. These are going to need 5 years. 90-91 potential for me.

  • Russk. A wine I liked at the Suckling Event.

  • We feel very good about this wine. It was a gift from very old friends in Lille, France whom we have known for 32 years. We then drank it with more friends whom we have known for almost 15 years to celebrate our last night visiting them in Bensheim, Germany.
The wine is ready to drink now but would benefit from decanting or perhaps 3-5 more years. Tannins are soft but grippy with swishing - a pleasant experience. Nose is vanilla and creamy, with plum aromas. Flavor is tobacco and earth, with anise and vanilla, and powerful dark fruits of plum and blackberry. A wonderful wine to drink with good friends!
